About the Programme

The integrated curriculum of the healthcare management programme is designed to provide a strategic boost to senior hospital executives, both in clinical and non-clinical roles. It serves as a transformative experience for clinicians transitioning into administration and experienced administrators seeking to enhance their leadership repertoire with cutting-edge insights. The programme attracts accomplished professionals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in leading diverse teams across the APAC region. The dynamic mix of participants amplifies the value of classroom discussions, fostering vibrant exchanges of ideas and perspectives. Delving into the realm of value-based healthcare, the programme empowers Asian healthcare executives to make a profound impact on society.

Programme Structure

Strategy and Innovation

The programme will provide participants with a solid grounding in strategy as a discipline – where it came from, where it’s headed, pros and cons of the strategic approach, key tools for strategic analysis, and an awareness of implementation issues, as well as how these can (or cannot) be overcome. Key tools for strategic analysis will be taught, and participants will be able to apply these tools using Asian business case material grounded in the Life Science/healthcare industry. Interactive sessions will help CEOs and administrators gain a feel for how to use their strategy tool-kit in the healthcare industry.
Financial Management

In the last decade, the pursuit for affordable and quality healthcare had consistently overwhelmed hospital administrators. The wave of cost-cutting in hospitals led to new ways of doing business, new methods of management and new responsibilities for traditional roles. This module will provide some insights and tools to managing resources more effectively, whilst controlling healthcare costs and providing quality medical care for all parts of society. Benchmarking across hospitals will also be discussed.
Implementing Operational Excellence and Organisational Transformation in Hospitals

How can hospital leaders transform their institutions? How can they conceptualise the organisation as a system of processes? What should they be doing to achieve and appropriately balance high worker productivity, clinical quality and patient safety, and operational throughput efficiency? How do hospital leaders achieve both mission and margin? These will be some of the issues covered in the operations/organisation module of this programme.
Leadership, Motivation, Teamwork and other Key Human Resource Issues in the Asia Pacific

Hospital administrators need to understand the importance of leadership as they lead their organisation forward. Among the critical competencies they will need are the abilities to motivate, build teams, direct and create a culture of co-operative excellence in their organisations.
