Shantanu Bhattacharya is Professor of Operations Management at SMU, Associate Dean of MBA, EMBA and DBA Programmes and Academic Director of the EMBA, DBA and DINN Programmes. Previously, he was Associate Professor of Operations Management at SMU and INSEAD. He holds a PhD in Operations Management from the University of Texas at Austin.
His teaching and research interests are in the areas of supply chain management, innovation and new product development, project management, services management, data analytics, design thinking, business model innovation and change management. He has consulted for GSK, IBM, Pepperl Fuchs, MAS Holdings and other firms and consortia, and has served on the advisory board and taught executive development programmes for a number of firms in various sectors. He has been recognized for his excellence in teaching and has won the Best Professor award in the SMU Executive Education Division in 2017, in the IE-SMU MBA programme in 2017, and has been nominated for the Best Core Professor at INSEAD twice, and has been on the Dean’s List of Teaching at SMU in 2016 and 2017. His research has been published in top business journals in different disciplines.

Mr Liak Teng Lit is the Group Chief Operating Officer of Perennial Real Estate Holdings Limited (“Perennial”) and Chief Executive Officer of Perennial Healthcare Pte. Ltd.
Mr Liak served 38 years in the public healthcare sector. He was the Group Chief Executive Officer of Alexandra Health System which managed the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Yishun Community Hospital in the north of Singapore. He was also previously the Chief Executive Officer of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Alexandra Hospital, Changi General Hospital and Toa Payoh Hospital.
A pharmacist by training, he was involved in the restructuring of major hospitals including The National University Hospital, Kandang Kerbau Hospital and Singapore General Hospital.
Mr Liak is the Chairman of National Environment Agency. He also serves on the board of Pathlight School and Advisory Board of Centre for Liveable Cities.
Mr Liak has previously served on the boards of Alexandra Health System, National Parks Board, National Philanthropy and Volunteer Centre, Singapore Tourism Board, NTUC First Campus, NTUC Health, NorthLight School, Southwest Community Development Council, Public Hygiene Council, Water Network, Victoria Advisory Committee, the Institute of Service Excellence at Singapore Management University and Skills Development Fund Advisory Committee amongst others.
Mr Liak holds an MBA and a BSc (Pharmacy) from the National University of Singapore and MSc (Pharmaceutical Sciences) from the University of Aston, Birmingham, UK.
Mr Liak enjoys running, reading and gardening.
Jeremy Lim

Dr. Jeremy Lim is a Partner in Oliver Wyman’s Singapore office, where he leads our Health & Life Sciences practice across the Asia Pacific region.
Jeremy has extensive experience consulting and advising multinational clients on national and regional strategies for market positioning and expansion, including acquisitions and responses to regional healthcare reform.
Jeremy is also active in academia, holding appointments at several universities. He teaches a popular graduate course at the National University of Singapore on managing health services organizations.
He writes regularly for both the scientific and popular media, and in 2013 authored Myth or Magic: The Singapore Healthcare System, a book that draws lessons from the Singapore health system for health reform efforts in other countries.
Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, Jeremy worked in senior executive roles in both public and private sectors, including time spent as a senior official in the Ministry of Health Singapore.
Jeremy chairs the steering committee of NIHA (NUS Initiative to Improve Health in Asia), an initiative to strengthen health policy research and education in Asia, is a member of the advisory board of the Indonesia International Institute for Life Sciences, and sits on the Advisory Council Behavioural Sciences Institute, Singapore Management University. He also contributes as President of the Fulbright Association (Singapore) and convener for the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Singapore alumni.
A medical doctor by training, Jeremy holds a Masters in public health degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and a Masters in medicine (surgery) from the National University of Singapore.
Akira Mitsumasu

Akira Mitsumasu has been with Japan Airlines for over 25 years. As VP of Products and Services, he is currently responsible for managing and innovating customer experience. Previous to his current role, Akira was VP of Marketing and Strategy for JAL’s Asian and Oceania Region, where he developed marketing strategies, benchmarked industry best practices and explored new business opportunities. Akira's passion for his work extends beyond his office. He is a voracious researcher on business related issues and has recently published a book titled "Control and Coordination of Subsidiaries in Japanese Corporate Groups". His philanthropy work includes working with the Holy Land Institute for the Deaf in Jordan. Akira holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and a DBA from Hitotsubashi University in Japan.

Tai Hwei Yee

Adjunct Associate Professor Tai Hwei Yee is a Chief Quality Officer in National Healthcare Group (NHG) and Senior Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). She was also responsible for setting up the Singapore Healthcare Improvement Network (SHINe), collaboration of healthcare institutions with an aim of improving care for patients and quality improvement in their respective organization. She currently serves as Co-Chair in SHINe.
Professor Tai has been working in Clinical Quality Improvement and Patient Safety for the past 20 years. Among her achievements was the establishment of the first Case Management Unit in Singapore in TTSH to improve the transitional care processes for complex inpatients and facilitate the implementation of evidence-based care with the usage of clinical pathways. She helped set up the framework for Patient Safety and Quality Improvement in TTSH and NHG which included electronic reporting of incidents, risk management, patient safety training and clinical practice improvement. She has been the lead for a number of adverse event studies within NHG and has been the driver or institutional sponsor for a number of patient safety and improvement collaborations, some of which included reduction of harm from high–alert medications, communication of critical results and decision support systems.
Professor Tai has a passion for teaching and education. She actively participates in Patient Safety and Improvement Training for all levels of staff in NHG, partner institutions and SHINe. She is also the Quality and Patient Safety lead in Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Professor Tai was awarded at the Singapore’s National Medical Excellence in 2012 as a Clinical Quality Activist for her contributions in quality and patient safety.
Parag Rindani
Head of Wockhardt Hospitals Ltd
Parag R Rindani is working as Head of the 350-bedded tertiary care super specialty New Age Wockhardt Hospitals Ltd. He is a post-graduate in Microbiology, Hospital Administration and Management with specialization in Finance. In his role as Head of the Hospital, Dr. Rindani is responsible for business development and ensuring the P & L remains in good stead. He currently drives programme development, consultant recruitment and engagement, business development, team building and quality planning & execution for the hospital along with leading a team of competent professionals.
He is a Principal Assessor for the NABH and is part of the Programme on Implementation training, accreditation and assessor training team at NABH. He has been a member of the Technical Committee of NABH (2009-11, 2014-17). During his tenure, he was/is part of the core team that wrote the 3rd and 4th Editions of the NABH standards (subsequently ISQua accredited). He has over 50 NABH assessments and has participated in over 20 Programmes on Implementation as also Assessor Refresher Courses and Conclaves. He has also been awarded the “Wockhardt Quality Team Leadership Award” in 2007. He has worked extensively on setting up quality management systems in Indian hospitals. He has been an integral part of NABH and JCI accreditation and re-accreditation process. Dr. Rindani is a certified Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma and has numerous quality improvement projects to his credit. He has also successfully conducted programmes on setting up quality management and infection control programmes in hospitals using PDCA cycle in the Maldives, India and Bahrain. He has also contributed a chapter on “Monitoring Clinical and Managerial Indicators” in the “Handbook on Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety” published by AHPI and is currently contributing a chapter on “Smart Hospitals” in the next edition of the same Handbook.
An accomplished orator, Dr. Rindani has been invited numerous times to share his expertise in infection control practices, quality management in healthcare and accreditation by professional bodies in various countries.
Chen Yongchang

Yongchang provides leadership to the Institute of Service Excellence’s (ISE) Research and Consulting team through oversight on research design, insights and analytics of all ISE’s research. Yongchang has worked for ISE since 2014, and has consistently contributed to the institute’s research arm with his passion for understanding and deriving strategic insights from research data across a wide range of industries. He has led in various consulting research projects at and for various industries, including banks and the government of Singapore revolving around satisfaction and customer advocacy metrics and predictive analysis for strategic decision-making. A strategic thinker that approaches problems and opportunities with a holistic perspective, Yongchang has developed and contributed significantly in the research field across various sectors. He brings with him a deep passion for understanding and deriving strategic insights from research data across a wide range of industries.
Yongchang holds a Masters of Science in Applied Economics from the School of Economics and a Bachelor of Business Management from the Lee Kong Chian School of Business from Singapore Management University. Prior to joining SMU, Yongchang worked in a research role at Citibank and the National Healthcare Group Polyclinics. He specializes in customer satisfaction measurement and customer experience using analytics tools such as SPSS and R programming.
Pankaj Sahni

Pankaj is the Chief Executive Officer of Medanta – The Medicity in the National Capital Region of Delhi. Prior to joining Medanta, Pankaj was an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company and worked in their New Delhi and New York offices. At McKinsey he has worked in the media, technology, telecom, consumer goods, automotive, financial services and private equity sectors serving clients on a wide variety of topics including, corporate growth strategy, cost effectiveness, post merger management, operational efficiency, business building and outsourcing/offshoring
Before joining McKinsey, Pankaj worked with Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young in their New Delhi offices. He completed his training and qualified as a Chartered Accountant during this time. During his time at Andersen and E&Y Pankaj was leading teams across multiple sectors working on assignments including statutory and internal audits, public listings, M&A, business process reengineering and consulting. Pankaj holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and a B.A. in Mathematics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. He is also a qualified Chartered Accountant.
Katharina Lange Ph.D.

Katharina Lange is Executive Director of SMU’s Executive Development as well as Affiliated Faculty at Singapore Management University.
As regards content, she provides expertise in leadership, strategy and entrepreneurship. She published case studies designed to teach in Executive Education classes, including topics of entrepreneurial leadership and business model engineering. She is certified in Hogan, MBTI and Globe Smart.
Prior to joining SMU, Katharina was Programme Director and Head of Practice Group Life Science Industries at the European School of Management and Technology in Berlin, Germany.
She has extensively designed and taught in executive education programs. Her clients include European and multi-national corporations such as UTC, Otis, Sumitomo Chemicals, Mondelez, Barclays Bank, Johnson & Johnson, Sanofi-Aventis , Bayer AG, Skolkovo Foundation, Infineon, Shangri-La, IBM and Bio-Rad.
For Open Enrollment, she directs the EDB-SMU programme on Infrastructure Excellence, ALPINE, and the J&J Hospital Management Programme.
