The ASEAN Foundation based in Jakarta was founded in 1997 with one of its missions being to promote ASEAN identity. The Foundation now uses the tagline #BeASEAN. It also sets an aspirational goal for human development in which companies are a major stakeholder. The ASEAN vision, commitments, blueprints and roadmap will affect all types of companies as they do business across the region.
Elaine was appointed Executive Director ASEAN Foundation in 2014. She has been Senior Officer and Head of the ASEAN Secretariat and Head, Resident Coordinator's Unit of the United Nations and has served across ASEAN as Programme Director for Yayasan Sejahtera in Malaysia and the United Nations Development Fund for Women in both Timor-Leste and Cambodia.
